Questions about fall risk

How accurate is an online fall risk self-check?
It is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. The questions mirror the risk factors physiotherapists screen for — fall history, balance, lower-limb strength, medication, sensation and home hazards. A moderate or high score means an in-person balance and gait assessment is worthwhile; it does not mean a fall is certain.
What does a high fall risk score mean?
It means two or more strong risk factors are present together, which is when fall rates climb sharply. The good news is that most of these factors — leg strength, balance reactions, footwear, lighting and bathroom safety — respond well to a structured 6–8 week physiotherapy programme done at home.
Can physiotherapy actually prevent falls?
Progressive balance and strength training is the single best-evidenced fall prevention measure for older adults. It works best when the exercises are challenging enough, practised at least 2–3 times a week, and combined with fixing home hazards.
Do you assess falls at home in Thane?
Yes. Dr. Komal, MPT (Neuro), does home visit balance and fall-risk assessments across Hiranandani Estate, Thane West and surrounding areas at ₹800 per session, including a walk-through of your own flat to spot hazards. Call +91 9101502059 to book.
